Shoveling the Soil

Knowing that the shoveling process can be quite difficult when done on a clay soil, it is very much advisable to apply some oil on the shovel before using it for the shoveling. Automobile wax is a good choice for this job.  This is because the oil prevents the shovel from rusting while also preventing the clay from sticking to the shovel.

Planting Perennial Crops that Slugs Can’t Attack

As it is with every garden, there will be pests such as slugs to feed on the leaves of the plants. However, it is the plants with thin leaves that are mostly perturbed by these creatures. For this reason, you should plant specific plant species like euphobia, campanula, heuchera, or cactus. These plants are usually thorny, have spiky shoots or are distasteful to these slugs. These defensive plants will drive insects away from your garden.

Go for Colorful Plants Too

Have you worried much about what becomes of your garden during extreme seasons as the winter? You may now put that worry away. There is a way you can arrest the situation. One such way is to have some colorful year-round plants like berries, Holly and their kinds. These plants guarantee an aesthetically appealing garden all year round.

Avoid too Much Moisture

It is true that every garden needs some moisture for peak performance. But it is also true that too much of this moisture can attract pests, vectors and, ultimately, diseases to your garden. The most common type of these diseases is fungal attack. Make sure to use fungicides to deal with the situation should it arise.

Using Pesticides

Pesticides can come in many forms. Some have effect on a specific group of pests such as fungicides which kill fungi and bactericides which kill bacteria. Also, there are some general purpose or broad spectrum pesticides, which kill all types of pests. But you should know that some important insects, such as the ones which help I pollination, butterflies and bees will be killed by broad spectrum pesticides while the most specific ones will spare them.

If allowed, they will damage a lot of fruits and some other plants in your garden. They are most active in the autumn. So watch out for them, and get ready to handpick them when the time comes

After several months of nurturing your fruits, peppers, tomatoes and the rest of the plants in your garden, you will want to pluck them in their prime. Although a couple of garden plants are harvested on maturity, most of them are best harvested young. This is mainly the case for leafy vegetables.
