That will leave a bad impression to guests and neighbors. Thus, mowing the lawn when the grass has grown tall with the use of your weed eater is a natural thing to do.
When it comes to the weed eater, you might encounter problems like the engine not starting properly. One of the solutions that you will have to consider is fixing the recoil spring. For that matter, you will need to take your engine apart so that you can look inside and check what the current state of the recoil spring is. Here are the steps that you should be able to follow when you want to fix the weed eater’s recoil spring:
Steps to Fix Weed Eater’s Recoil Spring
Step 1: Unscrew the bolts for the engine of the weed eater. You need to do this so that you can get inside the recoil spring. You need a screw driver with the right tip to remove the screws of the weed eater. Do not lose the screws and remember which part goes where.
Step 2: You may or may not take off the spark plug. It is up to you. Disconnect the electrical wires so that you can work on the recoil spring. There is a metal clip that goes way back inside the part where the recoil spring is. The metal wires inside will wound right behind this white circular part. You need to take the white circular part off so that you can release the recoil spring.
Step 3: You also need to remove the metal circular ring found at the bottom. This metal circular ring is the most important one to have.
Step 4: In this step, you will be recoiling the spring. One end of the recoil spring will have a U-shape which will then be latched on to the side opening of the metal circular ring. The other tip of the recoil spring will be an O-shape which will then go with the side opening of the white circular part.
Step 5: Start by coiling the recoil spring inside the metal circular ring. Do not forget to latch the U-shape tip into the metal circular ring’s side opening. Be thorough in coiling so that the coiling pattern does not get messed up. Connect the metal circular ring to the white circular part, ensuring that the O-shape tip of the recoil spring goes into the side gap of the white circular part. The said structure is what you would call a torque.
Step 6: You will need to turn the metal circular ring part of the torque clockwise to tighten up the recoil spring.
Step 7: Do not forget the rope. This rope is usually connected to the white circular part of the torque and eventually leads to the outside of the machine. This is what users will pull when they are trying to start up the weed eater.
Step 8: The torque should be placed back inside the machine. Be careful in doing that so that you do not make a mistake in the positioning. Try to pull the string that is located outside of the engine casing just to see whether or not you have fixed the recoil spring. If it immediately goes back after you pull and release, then the recoil spring is correctly fixed.
Step 9: Reconnect the electrical wire you have removed earlier on. This is connected from the actual engine to the switch on the casing. Be sure to not confuse the ground wire and electrical wire.
Step 10: Put the casing back into the engine, ensuring that the torque does not fall off. If the torque falls off, the recoil spring will get released and you have to start over. Close the engine and try it. You will need to make sure that the torque and recoil spring works already. You also have to make sure that the engine is not malfunctioning.
Step 11: Assemble the machine. Remember to put back the weed eater parts you have removed earlier on right where they should belong. Otherwise, the weed eater machine will never work. Do not leave out any component, bolt, or screw.
